Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya or Ibn al-Qayyim (1292–1350 CE) is regarded as one of the most important thinkers Hanbali school of Sunni Islam.

He made the following judgement about women: If a non-Muslim woman married to non-Muslim converts to Islam, the marriage is suspended until her husband also converts to Islam. However the woman has the option to wait for her husband to convert, or to end her marriage and marry another man after her waiting period.[1]
