People of the Book This article focuses on the changing relation Muhammad had with the People of the Book. In the early parts of the Qur'an (Meccan) Muhammad tried to portray himself as a prophet in the Jewish / Christian tradition. When that does not suit him anymore he starts to vilify them. And some of the "eternal pages" had to be re-written.

The People of the Book

Who they are...

The People of the Book, positive remarks

The People of the Book, negative remarks

Qur'an 3:65-68

Qur'an 3:99-100

The People of the Book, steal from them

Qur'an 9:29-35

The People of the Book, suspicion

The People of the Book, neutral

(They will be) in Gardens (of Delight):

they will question each other,
And (ask) of the Sinners:

"What led you into Hell Fire?"
Qur'an 74:40-42
