The Quran speaks dozens of times about "gardens under which rivers flow" in paradise (جنة, ''jannah'' in Arabic). The word ''jannah'' itself could be translated as "garden". So Islamic paradise is described as a garden with rivers. Is it a coincidence that Islam was born and first preached in a desert environment which has no rivers at all?
