Circ. article

Hi KM, I'm assuming you're the owner of this blog, from which the article came? --‎Axius 15:52, 31 October 2009 (PDT)

YES thats me, how do we add a new heading in the PAge Articles by Muslims. I am the owner of the blog. Yes.

Ok thats fine then, if you are the owner that you're the author of this article too so thats good. This is how I added the category, I just added that line at the end. I also added a quote template for that hadith. You can revert it back if you like. You can communicate right here by editing your talk page and I can see it. Your article is fine and is not breaking any guidelines. We dont have any complex guidelines except for this page: WikiIslam:Editing Guidelines for Muslims. --‎Axius 16:08, 31 October 2009 (PDT)

Mr. whale

Okay thanks, I got the grasp of it now.

I'll think about the 'muslims' section or a link on the main page although this site focuses on criticism so that will always come first. For breastfeeding check this out, the knowledge of two years had existed before Islam too. [1]. --‎Axius 17:46, 31 October 2009 (PDT)

Okay, cause once we have a link on the main page, then the audience who come here will see refutations easily to the contents of the website. Something like the new article section, you can make ours half the size maybe of that. That would be very good. WE will easily rip down the effect of all the false content easily then inshAllah. Very good idea it would be.

For now I just put a link at the end of the Misc section on the main page. When there are some more good articles by muslims maybe I'll think about putting something else up. But yes do remember this site will be favourable to critical articles, this is why it was made. Muslim article are also linked at the bottom of a relevant critical article (they have to be a response to that article). The contents arent so 'false'. As I showed you the 2 year breastfeeding thing existed before Islam too and that hadith in circ. is Abu Dawud which is reliable. There are other hadiths for circimcusion if you search in Google on the answering-islam.org site.--‎Axius 19:23, 31 October 2009 (PDT)

Yes yes, thank you. Thats a good start for the refutations. I think for the time being thats ok, having a single link directing to articles by Muslims on the main page is a good beginning. But there is one thing which is abit fishy, if let say all the Muslim articles become the most popular pages, then the admins [ not you :) ] can easily press DEL for the popular article i.e DEL 1. Islam is peace DEL 2. Muhammad the noble prophet of mankind DEL 3. Top 10 verses which changed the world for the good. DEL 4. Breastfeeding miracle.

I reckon that won't happen because this website is democratic. Anyways i think in 10-20 years time this website will be probably have all its members reconvert to Islam when they realize that most of the articles here have gaps. I mean the fact that use of poor scholarly opinion is used and then refuted dont make refutations valid. And i am going screening through the article for the second time I cant see the 2 year period.

No the articles wont be deleted, there's no reason to. No one will convert to Islam. People who are non-muslims and know all about Islam will never convert to Islam. About breastfeeding, here's the quote:
There is another extra-biblical reference that refers to children being weaned at two years of age. It is a Jewish commentary on the Biblical narrative concerning the infancy of Moses (see Exodus 2:1-10). In verse 9, we are told that the daughter of Pharaoh unwittingly hired the mother of Moses (Jochebed) to breastfeed him. The very next verse starts with the phrase, "The child grew..." In the Shemot Rabbah, a Rabbinic commentary on the book of Exodus (shemot, a Hebrew word meaning "names," is the Hebrew title for the book of Exodus), we are told that Moses, at this point of "growing up," was two years old (Section 1:31).
So its not something miraculous. 3 years was a period established before - doctors recommend 2 years or more:
Yet another Middle Eastern source outside of the Bible is Babylonian practice. Glenn Wyper, in his article on weaning in the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia [Volume IV, p. 1033], refers to Babylonian practices regarding the nursing and weaning of children. Wyper indicates that these ancient Babylonian practices paralleled Hebrew customs. He then suggests that a three-year "nursing period was widespread in the ancient Near East."
More:
Sarah, the mother of all Jews, gave birth to Isaac at the age of ninety years. After G-d performed this amazing miracle, Sarah lactated and nursed her son until the age of two years. [2] (Sarah and Chanah)
So Quran saying 2 years is not miraculous in any way. --‎Axius 04:45, 1 November 2009 (PST)

Okay okay good that you won't delete the articles. The Prophet must have been extremely well read ey, just imagine his shelf of books also containing the Shemot Rabbah. Anyways affirming biblical miracles, which have been affirmed in the 21st century is truly a feat in itself. Everything after 2 years dont add a great potential medical benefit. Anyways I dont want to discuss and argue here, with time I will be adding articles and you can post your refutation articles if you want.

Female Circumcision and Islam

Hi, Kenyanmuslim. I've read your article Female Circumcision and Islam, and it is full of false and unsourced statements.

1. You state "The hadiths although making several favorable mention of male circumcision, makes only one single mention of an event associated with female circumcision."

This is false. "In Saheeh Muslim (349) it is narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When a man sits between the four parts (arms and legs of his wife) and the two circumcised parts meet, then ghusl is obligatory.”" source

2. You state "This hadith is deemed unreliable by the famous hadith compiler Abu Daud in whose collection it appears. The narration chain is not considered reliable and the hadith defective and blemished."

You provide no reference for this statement, while according to this source opinions differ on this hadith and some consider it sahih.

3. You state "Most, if not all Muslim scholars prohibit any modification to the female genitalia." and "The conclusion therefore according to the overwhelming opinion of Islamic scholars is that Islam prohibits female circumcision and encourages Male circumcision."

This is complete bull. "it is clear that the fuqaha’ of Islam are agreed that circumcision is prescribed for both males and females, and in fact the majority of them are of the view that it is obligatory for both. No one said that it is not prescribed or that it is makrooh or haraam." source

4. You state "Even the most extreme muslim scholar however would rule approval of only WHO Type Ia Female circumcision i.e removal of the clitoral prepuce to a limited extent."

Again, this is complete bull. According to The Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law (which is approved by Al-Azhar) "Circumcision is obligatory (for every male and female) by cutting off the piece of skin on the glans of the penis of the male, but circumcision of the female is by cutting out the clitoris (this is called HufaaD)" source

Please make the necessary changes to your work soon to make it accurate and truthful, otherwise we will have to do it ourselves. Thanks. --‎Sahabah 11:05, 27 August 2010 (PDT)
