The Qur'an mentions numerous times that the sun and the moon travel in an orbit, but does not mention once that the earth does too. This is consistent with a earth-centered (geocentric) view of the cosmos that places a motionless earth at the center of the universe and all "heavenly bodies" travel around the earth. This was the prevailing understanding of the universe prior to the 16th century when Copernicus helped explain and popularize a sun-centered (heliocentric) view of the universe. Tellingly, the sun's orbit is always mentioned in the context of night and day. | The Qur'an mentions numerous times that the sun and the moon travel in an orbit, but does not mention once that the earth does too. You say Quran does not mention once that the earth travel in an orbit like sun and moon. Incorrect , risings and settings cannot happened except in case of rotation of the Earth around itself " So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able" 70-40
also movement of mountains is an evidence hat the earth is move too :" And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds. [It is] the work of Allah , who perfected all things. Indeed, He is Acquainted with that which you do."27-88
