Islam: Difference between revisions

There are two main sects of Islam: sunni and shia. Islam was split into these two sects right after Muhammad's death, because Muslims disagreed about who should be their leader. There are also minority sects like the ahmadiyya or ibadiya. There have been wars between these sects, particularly between sunni and shia. The political side of Islam is sometimes called Political Islam (or Islamism). Sunni Muslims strictly following the Quran and the sunnah are sometimes called Wahhabis, although they themselves refuse that label. There ale also other religions which came after Islam and acknowledge Muhammad, like sikhism and baha'i.
