According to the traditional narrative, Muhammad died as a result of poisoned lamb meat given to him by a Jewish woman in Khaybar. Depending on the narration her stated reason for this varies, from revenge to proving whether or not Muhammad was truly a prophet. The narratives do agree, however, that he foresaw his death as the pain of the poison took hold of him, and spent his hours doing his rounds amongst his wives.
