Science and the Seven Earths: Difference between revisions

→‎Qur'an and Sunnah: I've added in a hadith from the Mishkat al-Masabih mentioning the seven Earths. And also another weak hadith which does show contemporary understanding of the verses as being a well-known and incorrect concept (even if not from Muhammad).

(→‎Seven Universes: I have added in some sub-headings on this page. And a small sub-section on the issue of apologetics changing the meaning of the word heaven with 'Universe' in the context of it being night and day of the whole universe - altering some text originally from the Geocentrism page (and linking it in full).)

There is also a Da'if/weak chain (graded by Darussalam) of narration hadith referring to this, and so while it may not come from Muhammad, it does show early (and more contemporary) understanding of the verses which was evidently not a mysterious or confusing concept to them:
{{Quote|{{Al Tirmidhi||5|44|3298}}|...Then he said: ‘Do you know what is under you?’ They said: ‘Allah and His Messenger know better.’ He said: ‘Indeed it is the earth.’ Then he said: ‘Do you know what is under that?’ They said: ‘Allah and His Messenger know better.’ He said: ‘Verily, below it is another earth, between the two of which is a distance of five-hundred years.’ Until he enumerated seven earths: ‘Between every two earths is a distance of five-hundred years.’ Then he said: ‘By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! If you were to send [a man] down with a rope to the lowest earth, then he would descend upon Allah.’ Then he recited: He is Al-Awwal, Al-Akhir, Az-Zahir Al-Batin, and He has knowledge over all things.”}}
