Supplement page

Further to earlier discussions, a general principle would be to keep compelling stuff and major characters (Noah, Moses etc.) for the main page as people are most interested in where those stories come from, though the more tenuous examples about a major character could nevertheless be moved to the supplement. I think the things listed below could potentially be moved:

  • Queen of Sheba (somewhat tenuous due to dating controversy and a minor character)
  • Jacob tells his sons to not enter through one gate (minor character, not very interesting example)
  • Every living thing from water (already available on sci miracles, which is the main page where people would look for it anyway)
  • Moses, Aaron and the Samiri (certainly the Aaron's beard part is too tenuous for the main article)
  • Other details subsection of Jesus, Mary, and the Palm Tree (too tenuous for the main article)
  • The big Neuwirth quote about Pharoah's magicians at the end of late antique martyrdom should have the start and end trimmed off or entirely removed as it only adds a few highly technical details beyond the summary in the preceding paragraph.

Altogether that's at least 19k characters (including references), which would bring the main page down to 189k (source edit char count). If we need more, there are cases where some big quotes aren't really essential or could be shortened.

There are also some new examples in CPO675's Sandbox_1 (i.e. not the ones pasted from the main article). Souls taken away at night and arguments for resurrection are too tenuous even for the supplement, but good ones for the supplement would be ranks of believers, suckling for 2 years, shooting stars, expansions on the afterlife, khalāq, maybe sakīnah.

In addition to links at the end of existing sections (e.g. "See the supplement to this article for futher examples about Moses"), we could also have a section at the end of the main article called "Supplementary examples" which will simply provide a link to the supplement page. That sounds good to me and makes sense - I would also put the 'Jinn created from fire' into the supplement as it's not an exact parallel unless you think it's worth keeping? CPO675 (talk) 18:38, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
