However, the Quran has almost certainly never been the source of a scientific discovery. Instead, scientific discoveries, after having been discovered independent of the Quran have often been used to reinterpret relatively vague verses of Quran to attempt to demonstrate the scripture's foresight. For instance, one of the most popular claims of miracles is that the word yawm (singular of day) is repeated 365 times in the Qur'an, its plural and dual forms "days (ayyam and yawmayn)" together are repeated 30 times, while the number of repetitions of the word "month" (shahar) is 12. However, this and similar counts are usually manipulated, generally in unstated ways, to produce their striking totals.
