This is illustrated by the requirement for a mahr in temporary "marriages", the statements of Prophet Muhammad, and the fact that a mahr cannot be taken back (except under extenuating circumstances) because the man has availed himself of the service for which it was payment. The apologetic claim that it is simply a demonstrative token of his ability to financially support his wife does not hold up to scrutiny once all of the evidence is examined. Even the Qur'an alone makes it clear this is incorrect.
+Účel mahru popsaný islámskými texty je jasný. Je to platba od muže pro ženu. Je to platba v plné výši za budoucí sexuální vztahy (nikah) které s ní bude mít. To je znázorněno požadavkem mahru v dočasných "manželstvích", prohlášeních Mohameda, a faktem, že mahr nemůže být vzat zpět (leda při polehčujících okolnostech) protože muž využil službu za kterou platba byla. Apologetické tvrzení, že je to jen demonstrace jeho schopnosti finančně podpořit svou manželku neobstojí kritice, jakmile se podíváme na všechny důkazy. Dokonce i Korán jasně říká, že tak to není.
