Isnur said 98 percent of respondents reported enduring some form of torture while the police tried to solicit a confession or information from them.

In the absence of official statistics, it is impossible to assess the magnitude of bonded labour, but it is estimated that 1.7 million people are engaged in bonded labour in Pakistan.
